"When we first began thinking about investing in pork production on our family farm, we were looking for assistance. Then we contacted A-FAN—and they were there from start to finish for us. A-FAN helped us determine the best site for our pork production facility in terms of our neighbors. A-FAN also helped us understand our responsibility in terms of meeting county zoning and state environmental regulations. Working with A-FAN has been a great experience. A-FAN has been a beneficial source of information and has made us feel comfortable throughout the decision making process." |

"Our family has been growing turkeys in Nebraska for more than 70 years. We have two feed mills and four turkey production farms—and we feed to market 1.1 million hen turkeys per year. Our feed mills use local grain inputs to manufacture 24,000 tons of turkey feed each year. We are a big customer for Nebraska grain producers. We have 13 full-time employees and a part-time secretary, so our company is creating good-paying jobs and helping stimulate the local economy. When we were ready to grow our operation, we enlisted the help of A-FAN to help us understand and comply with local zoning regulations. It’s important that livestock production be a good neighbor in the community—and A-FAN helps livestock producers go about growing their operations in the right way." |

"Expanding our operation by adding an 800-head feedlot made sense to us, especially since we wanted to be able to support two generations of Becks! But we were wondering about the permits and regulations in our county. We wanted to make sure we were doing things by the book and could continue to be good neighbors in Merrick County.
